Student Visa or Education visas are Today a lot harder to acquire than a few years back, there was a time you just had to submit at a Thai English lesion and got a permission to stay for up to 1 year.

The so called Non Immigrant ED Visa got a lot harder to obtain today because of a lot of abuse by small schools just opened up to offer a easy and cheap visa solution for foreigners, the immigration bureau today is very strictly if it comes to ED visas and grant only those a permission who are provable study at Universities, Colleges, International schools etc.

So if you read on boards and blogs that people used this as viable visa solution to have an option to stay in Thailand, be aware that since 2018-19 the law and regulations changed.

How to get an ED visa / Education Visa in Thailand and who is permitted to have one?

Even regulations got strictly, fact is everyone can apply or a educational visa Thailand, if you have a serious wish is to study a Thailand specific topic such as Thai language, Thai cooking classes – or if you are young and plan to study at one of Thailand’s international English universities a more common topic with the target to acquire a Bachelor or masters degree.

Thailand has no age restrictions if it comes to Education, since those degrees have to be paid for at the university everyone can submit as a student.

We are more than happy to help you find a fitting university fits your price range and demand, Thailand has many world class universities. Many Universities employ foreign teachers previously was teaching abroad so they are without a doubt comparable to western standard but far cheaper than within the west.

Generally, whatever you plan to study you get the same type of visa, but it’s important to mention that at the immigration students are still separated into 2 categories

  1. Basic educations in schools teach languages or traditional Thai related topics (Thai boxing, Thai cooking etc.)
  2. Students plan to acquire a bachelor or master’s degree at an official that university

If you are looking forward to study a topic falls under category 1) your visa is valid for 90 days and need to be renewed all 90 days, you also must submit for the visa either from your home country or you must make a trip to Vientiane (Laos) in order to acquire this type of visa. If you are falling under category 2) and you plan to study at a university with a good name you are in most cases able to submit for an ED visa from Thailand.
